Om Esoterisk salong

The word esoteric comes from the Greek esōterikos, meaning “inner” or “belonging to an inner circle”. Historically, it referred to knowledge that was not part of public teaching, but was explored in smaller circles through conversation, practice and personal experience.

Esoteric can also mean “hidden”, not in the sense of something secret or inaccessible, but as knowledge that has long existed outside our established spaces of learning.

Esoteric Salon grew out of a desire to create a community for people who feel the need for such a space. There is a certain paradox in openly sharing what has traditionally been called “hidden knowledge”. For us, the term refers primarily to perspectives that have been marginalised within mainstream education, rather than to knowledge that should be reserved for a small elite. On the contrary, we want to make these perspectives accessible through open exploration, conversation and exchange.

Esoteric Salon is a meeting place where people come together to share, discuss and explore esoteric themes with both curiosity and critical reflection. Through lectures, workshops and artistic contributions, we explore symbolism, philosophy and the inner life of the human being. The Salon is inspired by the historical salon tradition: a place where ideas, art and conversation meet, creating space for deeper exploration.

Esoteric Salon is an independent, volunteer-run initiative organised by individuals. Everyone involved, including speakers, artists and organisers, contributes on a voluntary basis.

Our events are held at Rudolf Steiner University College, which kindly provides the venue. However, Esoteric Salon is neither organised by nor academically affiliated with the University College. The perspectives presented at the Salon reflect the ideas and approaches of the individual organisers and contributors.

Erika Lynn Gray works at Rudolf Steiner University College, where she is also a master’s student, and is the initiator and main organiser of Esoteric Salon. Her work explores the space between art, mythology and mysticism, with a particular interest in how symbols, stories and aesthetic expression can open spaces for reflection and inner experience.
